How do I qualify for the Boston Marathon?
The qualifier registration week for 2027 ran 14–18 Sep 2026, with results on 2 Oct 2026. Boston has no open lottery: you need a Boston Qualifier (BQ) time. For 2027 the cut-off was reported as 5:17 under the standard; about 1,000 extra places were drawn at random among qualifiers who missed the cut-off. The 2028 qualifying window opened 19 Sep 2026; registration is expected in mid-September 2027.
Are there other ways to get into the Boston Marathon?
Qualifying time (BQ) by age and gender — fastest under the standard are accepted first. Official charity programme (B.A.A. and John Hancock non-profit teams). International tour operators / travel partners.
